Ponte Lupo, the water giant - Roman Summer 2024
The project, promoted by Roma Capitale – Department of Culture, is a winner of the biennial “Estate Romana 2023-2024” public notice, curated by the Department of Cultural Activities and realized in collaboration with LEA and SIAE.
Centered around the outermost areas of Municipio VI, between the consular roads Casilina, Prenestina, and Labicana, the event aims to reconnect the public with a culturally and naturally rich region. Through shared and creative cultural and natural experiences, the project promotes social inclusion and cohesion, fostering multicultural and intercultural dialogue.
The executive production is handled by the cultural association Music Theatre International – M.Th.I. ETS, with Urbano Barberini as artistic director. The program, which includes 19 events, was developed through a collaborative effort within an informal network of local civil society organizations, third-sector entities, public institutions, and agricultural enterprises. This integrated network has been a key advocate for the pilot project of the Tiburtino-Prenestino rural archaeological district for several years.
The project is one of the 44 Good Cultural Practices recognized by the Lazio Region's Directorate of Culture, Youth Policies and Family, Equal Opportunities, and Civil Service. It has the support of the Rome Food Council and is twinned with the international festival "Cerealia: The Festival of Grains. Ceres and the Mediterranean."
The main location for the program is Tenuta San Giovanni in Campo Orazio, featuring the Ponte Lupo monument, a symbol of the ancient Roman countryside. Other locations include Agriturismo Casale le Giuggiole, Terre di Torre Jacova farm, Belvedere Casale Mattia organic farm, Alverese Brewery, and walks exploring the area around the Borgo di S. Vittorino and Parco Collina della Pace.
ALL EVENTS ARE FREE, AND ADVANCE BOOKING IS REQUIRED.
