Continues the collaboration with the Chicago Studio of Professional Singers of Chicago (IL, USA). The project has the patronage by the Italian Centre of the ITI, while it is expected to require again the support and cooperation of the Embassy of the United States of America in Italy and the Hellenic Community of Rome and Lazio. Based on the country of origin of the participants, will be involved the respective diplomatic missions in Rome.

The history of Italian and international melodrama is plenty of less-frequented works, but with no less dramatic and musical value. In particular, the repertoire of the Chamber Musical Theatre between ‘700 and ‘800, is a treasure of tasty musical rarities, which we are sure can still captivate the Roman audience, such as it was in the past, when these works were performed frequently also in the city’s theaters. These works, especially the comic operas with articulated plots, are a unique opportunity for training, often providing interesting ideas for the director, even more useful for the action on stage and not only for the voice of the singers. Indeed Opera, as complex form of theater, which includes different forms of performing arts languages (music, song, dance, painting, sculpture, and more recently, multi-media), is a unique opportunity for the training and professional debut of young artists of different disciplines.

MThI, operating since 2000, already has produced and staged – often for the first time in Rome – several chamber music works, both classical and contemporary. The project OperaNow! therefore fits perfectly into the artistic mission of the association, developing its international dimension.

Applications must be sent no later than 30 April 2014.

Program includes the following activities: a) vocal coaching and lessons; b) acting classes and daily movement classes; c) instruction in stage makeup; d) foreign language diction; e) seminars with international artists; f) performance in operatic gala; g) fully staged and costumed opera performances; h) cultural tours of the city; i) professional management consultation; l) agent and house auditions
